Read With a Child
"The Most Important 20 Minutes of Your Day...Read With a Child" is an outreach literacy program that promotes the importance of reading with children. Used by member stores in their communities at a grassroots level, this program is supported by such national spokespersons as Rosemary Wells, Jim Trelease, Rob Reiner, and Hillary Rodham Clinton. Copies of the 20 Minutes a Day poster are available for purchase by non-members. The posters (17 x 22) are available in packages of 100 for $25, plus shipping. Contact the ABC National Office at 608-836-6050 or via email. All proceeds will benefit the work of the ABC.
ABC Best Books for Children Catalog
The ABC Best Books for Children catalog is produced once a year by the Association of Booksellers for Children for the use of its member stores during the fourth quarter. Unlike other holiday catalogs, titles in the ABC catalog are vetted, and inclusion is determined through a combination of member recommendations, publisher catalog review, and media review attention. The catalog is not dated, and generally does not include holiday-specific titles, so it remains fresh well into spring. The editors of the catalog strive to produce a collection of titles that will appeal to a wide range of customers regardless of store size and location. Starting in 2007, the ABC catalog will carry BUY LOCAL branding. Because of the high quality of titles, the ABC catalog is effective in generating sales. As an added service, stores may have of the back cover page (8 ½ x 5 ½) imprinted with their store information for a small fee.
